The shrubs, brambles and weeds (Woodland Scenic and Heki) have two precise aims. The first is that of imitating the reality of a terrain that cannot be similar to a crown pin bowling lawn and the second is that of minimise and hide from sight all those slight imperfections which are evident. This requires an attentive observation of type nature which surrounds us, a nature which is not always easy to recall. Also in this endeavour, the vicinity and experience friend Enrico helped me to remember mental images which were then used to recreate the landscape as closely as possible to the real thing.

The walkways used by the railway staff to go from one workplace to another can be created in different ways. In my case, preferring grass in carpet form, I had only two methods open to me. The Bush product advises the user to pass a wet brush over the area which after having been treated can be easily removed. I chose a method which made me feel safer. After I had glued the grass I then prepared a small model which I then fixed in position with the classic drawing pins. With a cutter I cut out the edges then removed the excess. I brushed a goodly amount of Vinavil on the exposed parts then covered it abundantly with the gravel I had chosen without caring too much about how much in excess there was or if I was outside the zone of intervention. The subsequent hoovering left only that which was needed. |

The details in the area in the vicinity of the level crossing took me much longer proportionally than the areas having greater spaces. The four photos show the four sides on which I worked seeking a perfection or better, the reproduction of that which my imagination holds, which I am firmly convinced that I cannot reach. As for all the other photos which accompany this document, the achieved result is not to be considered as being a definitive solution but rather a series of partial or temporary trials which, once the whole will be completed, could differ both formally and substantially from those already published up to date. |

The job is decidedly well on the way to completion, probably 90% finished. There are still many small but important things to do as the division between building and terrain, an improvement of some of the green areas, a special treatment of the asphalt, the ageing of the buildings, the creation and sitting of groups of trees, vehicles, figures and other small details that render the whole more life-like. The made up trains will be photographed only when I will have finished the scenery, and as a last job, I will convert the plant from analogue to digital. Here follow eighteen photos which I feel give a more than satisfactory idea of the state of play. |
